Mid-fire

This gallery represents a selection of Fawn’s mid-fire work 2013-2014.

Mid-range and high-fire clay bodies are very similar within their type. The main distinction between them is implied in their names: the distinguishing factor is the temperature at which the clay matures (becomes vitrified). Mid-range clay bodies fire to maturity between cone 4 and cone 7. High-fire generally fires between cone 8 and 11. Both mid-fire and high-fire are extremely durable. We use mid-fire clay bodies at Mud Shed.
